Our Quiet Garden

A public space for prayer or reflection

Renovation work in the garden

Repaving and other improvements to the garden are in progress.  The work is now nearing completion and the garden is open to visitors, but please take special care as there may be people working on the site, and some clutter around.

We've installed new path surfaces and slightly altered the layout to make the garden more accessible, beautiful and inviting.  We're also creating a sheltered meditative corner with new seating.  An area of new turf has been laid, and some parts are awaiting replanting.

Thanks for your patience, and we hope you will enjoy the garden even more once the work has been completed.

Beverley Quaker Meeting is part of the Quiet Garden Movement, which nurtures access to outdoor space for prayer and reflection in a variety of settings and creates opportunities for people to experience silence, restfulness in beautiful surroundings.  There are over 300 Quiet Gardens worldwide.

Our garden is open to the public from dawn till dusk every day.  Sometimes it is used for Quaker events, or by other groups who use the meeting house.  All are welcome to use it.

The garden is used regularly and much appreciated by the general public, as well as by the various groups that use the meeting house. More local people discovered it during the lockdowns. It is an important part of our reaching out to the local community.
